Steal the look: 3 Emmy hairstyles to try

The Emmys are a night to celebrate the best shows on television, but it’s also a night to get beauty ideas and trends from the stars! Celebrities are always on the cutting edge of beauty, especially when it comes to hair. Here are three Emmy beauty trends we’ve spotted and how to get them.

Heavy bangs

Heavy bangs

From Lea Michele to Zooey Deschanel, heavy bangs have come back in full force in recent seasons. This look is easy to achieve and maintain all on your own. If you want to skip the stylist, simply section off the front of your hair and comb it forward. Snipping small amounts at a time, cut your bangs to your desired length using your scissors at an angle. (You don’t want the straight-across look of a child cutting her hair.) Take your bangs to the eyebrow level. Not ready to make that sort of commitment? There are plenty of clip-in bang extensions on the market for those nights you want to add a little more bang to your hairstyle. Find the appropriate color match, clip and go for an instant look of sophistication.

The messy side bun

Messy side bun

The glory of the messy side bun is that it can be worn with literally any outfit for any occasion. Wear it to the gym or wear it to your next red carpet event — this look will always be in style. To get the messy side bun, start by curling sections of your hair, but not all of it. You want your hair to look imperfect! Once the sections are curled, mess them up with your fingers, tossing your hair from side to side. Then, bring all of your hair to the side where you want your bun to be. Loosely wrap the bun and secure with a clear elastic band. Poof up the roots of your hair to relax the look and bring down some strands toward your face for an added hint of sex appeal. Secure the bun with bobby pins and go!

Beachy waves

Beachy waves

Take this look from the coast to the red carpet in just a few simple steps. Beachy waves have been seen on Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz and more, and it’s super easy to achieve. Simply start with clean, dry hair and divide it into sections. Twist the hair using a texturizing spray. Once each section is complete, mess up the look with your fingers and touch it up with a 1-inch curling iron for a more refined look.
