Recreate the celebrity hairstyle

Celebrities are like chameleons, changing their hairstyles and color with each walk down the red carpet. While most of us don’t have the time or money to recreate our look every few days, that doesn’t mean we don’t want to mix up our style sometimes, too.

As celebrity stylist and colorist George Papanikolas demonstrates, a change in texture, volume or style can go a long way. Papanikolas works on the celebrity tresses of Nicole Richie, Megan Fox, Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus at the Andy Lecompte Salon in West Hollywood, California.

Recreate these red-carpet looks with the help of George's simple steps.

This look works great on long hair with long layers or bangs. The soft volume and wispy feel give it a modern look. Start by applying a soft-hold mousse like Joico's Body Lux to add volume and hold before blowdrying. Then, use Joico's Design Collection Texture Spray to give your hair roughed-up, wispy beach texture, especially if your hair is clean or you want to give it more grit. This will also help the braid hold together better. Make sure it's not tight or slicked back, and don't worry if a few strands are loose; this will add to the appeal.
