Shake Shack Has a Pink Milkshake — & It's for a Great Cause
Valentine's Day should be spent with your beloved, right? And by "beloved," we obviously mean your pooch. Shake Shack clearly agrees; the burger chain is offering up glittery pink milkshakes in February in support of all those doggos out there.
Called the Love Shack Shake (inspired by the B-52s hit "Love Shack"), the strawberry-blond milkshake is topped with whipped cream and glitter sprinkles. For each shake sold (at $5.99 each), $2 will be donated to nonprofit organization Canine Companions for Independence, which pairs trained assistance dogs with children and veterans as well as adults with disabilities. The dogs are all expertly trained to perform over 40 commands to help those in need — and as of April 2017, Canine Companions for Independence has sponsored and trained over 5,000 dogs.
"At Shake Shack, music is in our DNA — and The B-52's 'Love Shack' holds a particularly special place in our hearts," Shake Shack culinary director Mark Rosati said in a press release. "Between the band's Georgia roots and the song's many glitter references, there was no shortage of inspiration for the Love Shack Shake."
Even Kate Pierson of the B-52s is a fan of the pairing. "We're shakin' with excitement to celebrate Valentine's Day with the Love Shack Shake and even more excited to support the great work of Canine Companions for Independence," she said.
Giving back to the community isn't new to Shake Shack. The chain is a proud member of 1% for the Planet. This means 1 percent of every bottle of water sold supports the cleanup of water sources around the globe.
But there’s a catch. Not only is the Love Shack Shake a limited-edition menu item; it's only available in specific locations in New York City, Los Angeles and Atlanta from Feb. 9 to Feb. 18. So, if you're in those cities, you can simultaneously treat yourself and "give a dog a job." Is there any better feeling than that?
