Obie was rescued by Nora Vanatta in 2012 after his previous owner, an elderly woman with dementia, nearly overfed him to death. The woman would forget she already fed Obie and feed him again. In order for Obie to lose nearly 50 pounds, his new owner put him on a strict workout regimen.

In this video, Vanatta can be heard encouraging Obie to keep moving, which ultimately led to his success. All of his hard work paid off, and Obie reached his weight-loss goal. He now weights 23 pounds, which is in the normal weight range for Dachshunds.

Obie's results took time, but there are probably very few dogs that have lost 50 pounds. Vanetta's hard work with Obie can be an inspiration to us all. If Obie can do it, we can do it.
