‘Tis the season of gifting…to dads, that is. June is the time to dote on the badass papas in your life — not just your own dad, but your generation of dads, whether it’s your partner, your brother, or just that dad who always lets your kids join his own for an amusement park day you definitely didn’t want to lead yourself.
For this particular list of Father’s Day gifts, we’re catering to the ’80s babies (or ’80s-ish, at least): You know, the millennial dads who nurture their kids and also tirelessly document their every move on social media. Many millennial fathers are breaking stereotypes of what “dad life” means — some of them are founding start-ups, some are staying home to care for kids, and some are toting those kids around the world with them. How does all this inform gift-giving? Well, it definitely makes shopping for Dad a lot more creative than it was in, say, 1992 when we were kids.
This Father’s Day — or really, whenever — gifting Dad a pick-me-up (that’s not in the form of a Facebook “like”) can go a long way. After all, parenting is a fulfilling job, but it can also be stressful. But what gift to pick? From vintage video games and wrinkle-free suits to subscriptions he’ll actually appreciate, millennial fathers will savor the out-of-the-box thinking you put into selecting the gifts ahead. (And you don’t even have to tell them we selected the gifts for you.)
Here, a collection of items that will brighten Dad’s day — and make the whole dad gig a little easier.
