Photographer captures just-born infant ‘crawling’ to Mom’s breast to nurse

It’s 5:50 a.m. in Austin. New parents Jessica and Don are waiting for their newborn baby girl, Harper, to do something incredible.

Within hours of being born, babies have the ability to make their way to their mother’s breast and latch on for a first feed, something that’s commonly referred to as a breast crawl. For Don and Jessica, the process will ultimately take almost an hour, every moment documented by Austin-based birth and breastfeeding photographer Leilani Rogers. She shared these magical images with SheKnows and told us the story behind them.
