Kids may not be eligible to vote, but that doesn’t mean they can’t let their little (but important!) voices be heard during this unprecedented election and all the ones to come. Throughout all the turmoil we’ve faced this year — from the pandemic to racial tensions — so many young people have been fighting for change. And to be honest, if many of these kids could head to the polls this year, we might not be as concerned about what happens on and after November 3rd. But since that’s unfortunately not the case, all we can do is raise them to become activists so that they make informed decisions when they can cast a ballot down the road.
Aside from joining you at peaceful protests or community events, you can start small by outfitting them in some adorable “vote” T-shirts for kids that’ll remind not just your kid, but also adults, the importance of letting their voice be heard. You never know: The next time your kiddo is wearing a political tee at the grocery store, they just might encourage someone to vote early or send off that mail-in ballot ASAP so it gets counted.
Everything from the books we read to kids to the clothes we buy them can shape how politically active they are as an adult. It’s an important reminder that no person is too small to make a difference and inspire change — take these kid activists as an example.
Their life depends on the results of this year’s election no less than yours, so it’s all hands on deck to help integrate them into the 2020 election season. So, vote with your wallet first by adding a few of these cute “vote” T-shirts for kids to your cart. And then go vote!
