Celebrity Moms Get Painfully Honest About Breastfeeding

In our ideal world, all parents’ experiences with breastfeeding would be the same, easy-breezy story. Our newborns would have no problem latching instantly, our milk would come in, but not too fast, we’d get no mastitis, and precisely zero strangers would question where or for how long we were feeding our kids. Special services would bring our babes to our workplaces for regular nursing intervals, so we’d never have to pump. BUT NOPE: Our real-life breastfeeding experiences tell an entirely different story. Because just like with everything else when it comes to raising a child, no one’s experience is exactly alike, and nothing goes exactly according to plan. \

That said, in the messy, weird world of breastfeeding, we’re very grateful to every mother who reminds us that we are not alone. Celebrity mothers have used their interviews and social media platforms to share their most beautiful moments as well as their worst, when it comes to breastfeeding. They’re paying it forward for every mom who comes after them and wonders: Why are my boobs so veiny? Is it okay if I breastfeed my toddler? Can I quit if this makes me miserable and I want to go back on my meds? Is it weird to love this so much? Why does pumping make me feel like an actual dairy cow?

We could hear this all from our moms groups and family members. For some reason, when these confessions come from the likes of Serena Williams, Shay Mitchell, or Chrissy Teigen, they make us feel just a little bit better.

Here are some of our favorite quotes from famous moms about the highs and lows of breastfeeding.
