Winter is here, and with a vengeance. December opens with a somewhat temper-tantrum vibe, as Venus meets Scorpio head-on, unleashing plenty of intense energy. This brings with it a strong potential for jealousy, possessiveness and obsession, especially with toddlers and teenagers. (Then again, are they ever not jealous or possessive?)
“On the 6th, with Mercury no longer retrograde, setting boundaries will be easier,” Australian-born astrologer Kelli Fox tells SheKnows. “Still, be careful — and make sure your kids confirm that they understand what you say. They may easily pull out the ‘Oh, I didn’t get what you really meant’ card later on.” Clear communication with the whole family will be critical — especially on the 7th thanks to the Mars-Neptune conjunction, which can be misleading and might allow your kids to take advantage in a way you really don’t want. An unsupervised teen sleepover at a friend’s house, perhaps? Yikes. Luckily, the solstice on Dec. 21 marks the northern hemisphere’s shortest day of the year and the arrival of the sun in responsible Capricorn. Phew!
“School performances and end-of-semester activities make this a busy time,” Fox adds, “but it will be a perfect moment to tie up loose ends just ahead of the festivities. On New Year’s Eve, warrior planet Mars arrives home in Aries and a slew of plans, projects and activities will be abuzz to start 2019 with energy and enthusiasm.”
But that’s just the beginning for stargazing parents. Read on to see what’s in store for your whole family in the final month of 2018.
