All aboard! McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park in Scottsdale is a popular attraction throughout the year, but come December, the park draws thousands on a nightly basis.
Holiday Lights at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park
Valley residents come from far and wide — and often wait for hours in line — to take a train ride throughout the park that is adorned with lights and decorated with Christmas theme vignettes. Music is pumped along the line so guests can enjoy Christmas classics as they take a ride through this holiday wonderland.
The holiday lights presented by Scottsdale Charros brings Christmas to life at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park runs nightly from Dec. 9 through Dec. 30, 2011, (excluding the 24th and 25th), starting and 6:30 p.m. through 9:30 p.m. Opening night festivities include a tree-lighting ceremony, visits from popular cartoon characters such as Tigger, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Scooby-Doo and Santa Claus himself, entertainment and more.
While at the park, don’t forget to take a ride on the carousel or take the kids over to the massive playground before or after the train ride. Get a scoop of ice cream or a cup of warm hot chocolate and some souvenirs at Hartley’s General Store for the little train lovers in your life — it has a train table for the kids to play and a wide selection of Thomas and Friends trains, track and accessories. Train rides are $2 for riders three and up. Children two and under ride free with a paying adult. Train lovers young and old will love this holiday-themed train ride.
