Birch Aquarium in La Jolla, California
Birch Aquarium at Scripps is the public exploration center for the world-renowned Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego. The aquarium features more than 60 habitats of fishes and invertebrates from the cold waters of the Pacific Northwest to the tropical waters of Mexico and beyond.
BIRCH AQUARIUM, LA JOLLA
Located on a beautiful coastal bluff above the Pacific Ocean, Birch Aquarium at Scripps is smaller than some aquariums, but equally -- or more interesting -- and fun. There is a variety of marine life to see, from seahorses to sharks. Children and adults alike will enjoy the outdoor tide pools, where they can touch starfish and sea anemones.
Additionally, there are many learning opportunities -- children can participate in the Wonders of Water and adults can learn about climate change at Feeling the Heat: The Climate Challenge Exhibit. Check the daily schedule for shark feedings. If you plan to go on a busy day, consider the online ticket purchase option.
