Camp Champions, Texas
Focusing on youth development, Camp Champions brings out the champion in everyone.
Camp Champions, Texas
Founded by sports legends, including Darrell Royal, the camp is now much more than a sports camp, providing over 45 activities and focusing on the Youth Development aspects of camp. Camp Champions is set lakefront on beautiful Lake LBJ in the Hill Country of Texas, one hour northwest of Austin.
They are on approximately 100 acres of land and they want their campers to pursue big dreams, to serve others, to make a difference in the world around them. Their motto? "We know that every one of our campers has what it takes -- we just try to bring out the champion that's already in each one of them!"
What we love:
Their state of the art junior-Olympic-sized swimming pool with two 165 ft. slides, waterskiing, wakeboarding, sailing. Ropes course (including a brand new element called "the screamer" — it's the highest swing in Texas), horseback riding, go karts.
Trojan/Spartan Games: All Champions campers are either Trojans (blue) or Spartans (red). Each Sunday the two teams face each other in the Olympic-style Trojan-Spartan Games. The Games are a great place to use teamwork and to cheer on your camp friends.
And their Home run -- a fourth week option for campers who are already enrolled for 3 weeks. During this extra week they can take an aviation course off-camp, leave camp to go float the river, participate in a night with inflatable toys/other games such as laser tag and hamster balls, cooking classes, parasailing, tie dying courses, etc. It's a laid back and fun week where campers can participate in new activities or have more time at some of the regularly offered camp activities.
Before camp even starts, every parent is asked to fill out a detailed survey about their child. At the end of the first week, one of your child's counselors will give you a call to update you on their camp experience. If you miss this call, they will leave a detailed message. They also post between 150 and 200 pictures each day when camp is in session.
