Year in review: Top celebrity baby names 2011

From Mariah Carey’s twins to Kate Hudson and Natalie Portman, 2011 was a great year for celebrity babies — and celebrity names. We have rounded up the best celebrity girl and boy names of the year.

Kate Hudson and son Bingham

With just a few exceptions, celebrities in 2011 opted for sweet and old-fashioned baby names over strange and wacky names (ahem, Pilot Inspector). The celebrities that get the honor this year of weirdest celebrity baby names include Alicia Silverstone (Bear Blu), Kate Hudson (Bingham), Cree (Tia Mowry), Spike (Mike Myers) and Xander (January Jones). As you can see, none of the celebrity baby girl names made the list and, compared to year’s past, they are actually quite tame.

Celebrity baby name trends of 2011

The old saying “what’s old is new again” is true when it comes to baby names. Old-fashioned names, such as Felix, Bingham, Milo, Delilah and Hattie, were popular among celebrities this year. Destination names, such as London and Indiana, were popular this year as well, as were Western baby names, such as Flynn, Colt, Waylon and Sadie.
