Children’s Motrin and Children’s Benadryl recalled

McNeil Consumer Healthcare, a Johnson and Johnson company, has issued a recall of Junior Strength Motrin Caplets and Children’s Benadryl Allergy Fastmelt tablets. Keep reading for more information.

It seems there is a recall everwhere you turn. The latest invovles children’s medication.

Children’s Benadryl Allergy Fastmelt tablets in cherry and grape — distributed in the United States, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Puerto Rico, St. Martin and St. Thomas

Reason for recall

McNeil issued the recall in consultation with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The company says that this is a wholesale and retail level recall. What does that mean for you? Keep reading.

The recall states the following, “The recall was initiated after a review, conducted as part of McNeil’s Comprehensive Action Plan, revealed insufficiencies in the development of the manufacturing process.”

McNeil notes that “there is no indication” that either product – Junior Strength Motrin or Children’s Benadryl – does not meet quality standards. Furthermore, the company also says that the recall was not based on any adverse events.

While the recall pages don’t indicate the particular reason for the recall, major news outlets such as the Wall Street Journal are reporting that the products were made at Johnson and Johnson’s Fort Washington, PA, plant before it was temporarily closed

Nothing. The company specifically states that this is a wholesale and retail level recall and that “[n]o action is required by consumers or healthcare providers and consumers can continue to use the product.”
