Chrissy Teigen Opens Up About Loving Her Post-baby Body

Every woman’s body changes after she has kids, and (surprise!) models are no exception — and Chrissy Teigen is here to remind us those changes are more than OK. The mother of two adorable children, Luna and Miles, Teigen recently spoke about how she no longer has the body of a swimsuit model like she did in her past life as (you guessed it) a swimsuit model. In a new interview with Good Housekeeping, Teigen shared how she copes with the insecurities that accompany major changes to your body.

“Every morning when I look at myself in the mirror, I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, how did it get here?’ My baby was, like, four pounds and I gained, like 60 pounds, and that seems off!'” she told the outlet. “But, you know, I think everyone’s body is just really different. That’s why, my posts of real mom sh*t, and wearing the diaper, and having that mesh thing, and real postpartum business? I think as important as it is for people to see me do that, it’s also really important for me.”

Teigen, who is known for her refreshing honesty on social media (not to mention her savage burns of Donald Trump), said that when she gets insecure about her weight gain, Luna and Miles are the best medicine. “I’m not blind: I see my body, I see the difference in shape, I see that I gained weight,” Teigen said. “But I also see with those same eyes that I have a beautiful baby boy, and an amazing little girl, and I am very happy.”

Her kids also help Teigen keep other things in perspective — like the fact that there’s an amazing life after being a supermodel. Chrissy Teigen the mom and cook is just as exciting a role, even if it may not be seen as quite as glamorous as her modeling days. “I don’t have to be swimsuit model anymore,” she said. “I get to be a mommy, cook, and meet incredible people, and I’m happy to be going through this transition.”

Luckily for us, Teigen is more than happy to share the ups and downs of the transition — and in doing so, she’s made many moms feel just a little less alone.
