On Tuesday, supermodel-slash-supermom Cindy Crawford shared a couple of lovely photos on Instagram. The pics are a high school-age image of Cindy beside one of her daughter, model Kaia Gerber, around the same age. “School pics, now and then,” the icon wrote as the caption. Is the resemblance uncanny or what?
While, sure, we know Crawford is Gerber’s mother, and, well, these twinning things tend to happen when two people share DNA, it’s still pretty fun to see. A number of commenters have called out the doppelgänger pair, including Crawford’s fellow supermodel, Elle Macpherson, who called them “Beautiful twins” (it’s not the first time Macpherson has gushed over a photo of Crawford’s family). Had Gerber, 16, copied Mom’s perfectly coiffed ’80s hair, it would be tough to tell the two women apart.
The models aren’t the only celebrity mother-daughter lookalikes online. Reese Witherspoon and her daughter, Ava Phillippe, give this model pair a run for their twin-magic money.
Despite Gerber and Crawford sharing pretty much the same mannerisms, facial expressions and bone structure, there are two things they do not share: clothing and shoes. In an interview with E! News, Gerber explained that compared to mom, she unfortunately fell short — literally. “She’s a bit taller. And we’re not the same shoe size either, which is heartbreaking,” she said. Heartbreaking indeed. So much for raiding what’s sure to be an epic closet.
