Brittany Kerr Aldean could only think of her baby — the one she hasn’t even met yet — during the horrific mass shooting on Oct. 1 at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas. Kerr Aldean, wife of singer Jason Aldean, is pregnant; she was watching her husband perform from a tent near the Mandalay Resort and Casino when gunfire began and chaos erupted in the crowd of thousands around 10 p.m. local time.
“As we laid behind equipment onstage with some of our road family, bullets flying past… all I could think was, ‘I never even got to hold my baby,’” Kerr Aldean said. “As you can imagine my first instinct was to run to [Jason] and his was the same.”
The mass murder is the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history, with 58 confirmed dead and around 500 injured.
“I can’t put into words the pain and heartache we feel for the ones who are no longer with us,” Kerr Aldean added. It was her first statement about the incident.
Her husband has also spoken out about the horrific events and announced the cancellation of several concerts. “I feel like out of respect for the victims, their families and our fans, it is the right thing to do,” he said.
Within a day of the murders, Aldean took to Instagram and begged followers to “come together and stop the hate.”

Over the last 24 hrs I have gone through lots of emotions. Fear, Anger, Heartache, Compassion and many others. I truely dont understand why a person would want to take the life of another. Something has changed in this country and in this world lately that is scary to see. This world is becoming the kind of place i am afraid to raise my children in. At the end of the day we arent Democrats or Republicans, Whites or Blacks, Men or Women. We are all humans and we are all Americans and its time to start acting like it and stand together as ONE! That is the only way we will ever get this Country to be better than it has ever been, but we have a long way to go and we have to start now. My heart aches for the Victims and their families of this Senseless act. I am so sorry for the hurt and pain everyone is feeling right now and there are no words i can say to to take that pain away. Just know u all are in my heart and my prayers as we all go through this together. Time to come together and stop the hate! #stopthehate #prayforlasvegas
“Something has changed in this country and in this world lately that is scary to see. This world is becoming the kind of place i am afraid to raise my children in,” he wrote, highlighting a sentiment felt by parents across the country. Now if only Congress would listen.
