Michael Phelps & Wife Nicole Expecting Baby No. 2
Olympic swim star Michael Phelps is going to be a dad again.
He and wife Nicole Johnson are expecting a new addition to their family. Their son, Boomer, 15 months, was the very cute star of their pregnancy announcement on Instagram (both on his own Instagram account and on his parents').
Presented with a positive pregnancy test — yeah, not really sure he's got the science down either, but hey, he'll figure it out someday — Boomer looks to be pretty darn OK with the concept of a new baby. The caption on his account (which presumably was drafted by someone other than Boomer) reads, "So excited to see what mama is having!! Do I get to have a brother or a sister?!?"
That smiley, curly-headed toddler could sell us on anything. I mean, look at that faaaace. "What's that, Boomer? Your parents are pregnant with twin zebras? That's awesome, little man."
The senior Phelps (the one with the wingspan of a marabou stork) captioned his own Instagram post similarly: "Number 2 is on the way!!! So excited!! Wonder if it's a boy or a girl??"
Phelps and Johnson welcomed Boomer into the world in May 2016. The pair married later that same year (twice, in two fabulous events, like ya do when you're Michael Phelps and have 28 Olympic medals under your belt).
Just this year, Phelps told People that Johnson was eager to increase their family size, adding, “Nicole has recently brought up that she would like a girl!”
“We definitely want more kids, it just depends on when,” he continued, acknowledging that he was "getting pressure."
Boomer was not planned, Phelps said, but it sounds like Baby No. 2 was a more conscious decision. “[We’re] trying to get moving on some things!”
Mission totally accomplished, Michael Phelps. Gold medal work, you guys.
