People blogger Peyton previously revealed that she and her husband had decided not to find out the baby’s sex before the birth. "Once we announced to our friends and family, everyone wanted to know if we were going to find out the gender. This is a natural question, and I always thought I would want to know," she wrote in October. "I consider myself an organized person, and I imagined that it would be much easier to plan the nursery and to have everything in order if we knew the gender. My husband had a different opinion, and really did not want to know. We went back and forth, but ultimately decided that we would not find out."

The new mom also shared a sweet snap of her new baby girl on her Instagram page.

Baby girl name Lyla is a variation of the Arabic Lila, meaning "night," and it's overtaken the original in the baby name chart, ranking at No. 142 in 2015. Famous bearers of the name include Canadian Egyptologist Lyla Pinch Brock and American politician Lyla Berg. Pop culture references to the name can be found in TV's Friday Night Lights and Sons of Anarchy and the Superman comics and the movie August Rush.

James, the new arrival's middle name, is after both parents' father's first names.

Chris, who came in second on Ali Fedotowsky’s season of The Bachelor, proposed to Peyton (a past Bachelor and Bachelor Pad contestant) with a David Yurman round-cut diamond ring at his house in Cape Cod in June 2011 after meeting her through fellow Bachelorette contestant Jesse Beck.
