Caterina Scorsone welcomes her second baby
Grey's Anatomy star Caterina Scorsone is a mom again.
Scorsone, who plays Amelia Shepherd in the hit show Grey's Anatomy, introduced her baby daughter, Paloma Michaela Giles, on social media Tuesday with a very topical announcement to reflect the importance of the day.
Baby Paloma's face wasn't in the photo, but she had an "I Voted" sticker on her vest. Unfortunately, as we all now know, Scorsone's wish that "The future is female" is not the case — at least not for the next four years now that new President-Elect Donald Trump is in power.
Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes gave her congratulations on Twitter and echoed Scorsone's political sentiment.
Paloma, a Spanish baby girl name meaning "dove," is one of those names that manages to evoke both power and peace. The most famous bearer is the striking red-lipped jewelry designer Paloma Picasso; other notable Palomas include British singer Paloma Faith, Argentine ballerina Paloma Herrera and Brazilian actress Paloma Duarte. Celebrity parents who've chosen Paloma for their girls include actor Emilio Estevez, actor David Caruso and Ugly Betty star Ana Ortiz, plus it's the middle name of actress Salma Hayek's daughter Valentina Paloma Pinault. After entering the U.S. top 1,000 in the early 1990s, it reached an all-time high of No. 698 in 2010 and last year charted at No. 906.
Paloma joins big sister Eliza, who was born in 2012. Scorsone and husband Rob Giles of the LA pop-rock band The Rescues married in Toronto in June 2009.
