Actress Tika Sumpter has kept details of her first child under wraps for a few weeks, but she’s finally shared the sex and name of her baby.
Daughter Ella-Loren was born in early October and Sumpter hinted at her arrival on Twitter, acknowledging what an adjustment having a baby is.
Dear Mom's, dad's and caretakers, I'm slow clapping for each and every one of you. It ain't no joke. 🍼🛌 pic.twitter.com/le4Yizay7R

Sumpter only made her pregnancy public in August, explaining that she wanted to experience every moment of her first pregnancy for herself without being under scrutiny and quizzed on who the father is.
“Social media can be harsh, and I’m a mama bear, protective of my family,” she said. “So that’s why I waited to tell people, including some friends.”
Her baby name choice is an interesting one. She paired a popular baby girl name with a less popular unisex name more commonly given to boys. Hyphenated or double-barreled names are a definite trend right now — especially for girls. It’s a great way for parents to get creative and ensure their child stands out from the crowd.
Ella is an English name meaning “all, completely; fairy maiden,” and has raced toward the top of the U.S. baby name chart since the turn of the century. Up from No. 265 in 2000, it’s currently No. 18. It’s also popular in Sweden (No. 4) and Australia (No. 6). Other famous parents who’ve chosen Ella for their daughters include John Travolta, Warren Beatty, Ben Stiller, Eric Clapton, Alex Rodriguez, Daniel Craig and Mark Wahlberg.
As a girl’s name, Loren is an alternative spelling of Lauren, while the boy’s version is a variation of Lorenzo.
Congratulations to Sumpter on the birth of Ella-Loren!
