Desiree Hartsock Siegfried gives her new baby a biblical name
A new Bachelorette baby has been born! This time, it's one of our all-time favorite Bachelor/Bachelorette contestants, Desiree Hartsock Siegfried, who welcomed her first child with husband Chris Siegfried in Seattle Thursday.
The proud mom broke the news to her fans with a cute Instagram snap of her newborn son Asher Wrigley Siegfried's fingers curled around her wedding ring finger.
Asher is a baby boy name of Hebrew origin that means "fortunate, blessed, happy one." An Old Testament favorite — Asher was one of Jacob's 12 sons — it has stormed its way up the U.S. baby name chart recently, climbing 150 places since 2007 to reach its current No. 83 position, and is enjoying its second consecutive year in the top 100.
More recent famous bearers of the name include American football player Asher Allen, painter Asher Brown Durand, Canadian ice dancer Asher Hill and rapper Asher Roth. Other celebrity parents who've chosen Asher as a baby name include actors Marshall and Jamie Anne Allman and singer Justin Guarini.
TV references include Asher Hornsby in Gossip Girl, Asher Millstone in How To Get Away With Murder and Asher Fleming in Gilmore Girls.
Hartsock Siegfried was a finalist on the 17th season of The Bachelor starring Sean Lowe as the object of her affection. She made it to fourth place and was broken-hearted to be eliminated, but went on to call the shots in The Bachelorette Season 9, where she met her future husband and delivered her final rose to Siegfried in the season finale. He exchanged it for an engagement ring and the couple married in January 2015, announcing their baby news on Instagram in April 2016.
Congratulations to the couple on their new arrival!
