A Parenthood star just took on the real-life role of Mom
She played a mom in the TV series Parenthood, and now Erika Christensen has taken on the role in real life: The star welcomed her first child with husband Cole Maness, daughter Shane Maness, on June 21.
Before the baby arrived (a home birth in California), fans knew the little one was on the way, as Christensen gave the world a huge heads-up on Twitter.
Shane, a variation of Sean, which itself is the Irish variation of John (meaning "God is gracious"), is typically a baby boy name, but some parents choose it for their daughter as a variation of Shannon, Shana or Shawn. In pop culture, Shane was the name of a character in the American Showtime TV drama series The L Word, played by Katherine Moennig. Another celebrity offspring with the name is Eddie Murphy's 21-year-old daughter, although her name is spelled Shayne.
Christensen, who married Maness in September 2015, described being pregnant as "rather surreal," revealing that her daughter was a "little kick boxer […] big and moving and communicating as far as reacting to music that we play and stuff like that."
The 33-year-old actress shared some gorgeous baby bump pics throughout her entire pregnancy — she definitely was one of those moms-to-be who just glow more and more as the months go on.
