Katherine Webb and AJ McCarron give son a name we should have seen coming
Congratulations to model and former Miss Alabama USA Katherine Webb and her football hubby AJ McCarron, who are celebrating the arrival of their first child.
Webb revealed they were having a boy back in December, saying on Instagram that she and her husband, who married in 2014, were "beyond blessed and grateful" to finally announce that they were four months pregnant. The Sports Illustrated model thanked everyone for their prayers, admitting that it hadn't been "an easy journey."
And now the next, exciting part of that journey has begun, as announced by McCarron on Twitter Tuesday night.
The name Tripp means "traveler" and is often used as a nickname for a boy who has the same name as his father and grandfather — short for Triple, as in the third. However, it has grown in popularity since Republican politician Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol named her son Tripp in 2008, and the name reached its peak in 2013 when it was No. 639 on the U.S. baby boy name chart. Tripp was also the name of Matthew McConaughey’s character in the 2006 movie Failure to Launch and has featured in TV shows I’m in the Band, Gossip Girl, Eerie, Indiana and The Vampire Diaries.
For the more eagle-eyed Webb fans out there, this baby name announcement isn’t actually news at all. Check out the massive hint the mom-to-be dropped on her Instagram page four weeks ago...
