Gladiators, rejoice! It appears as though the star of ABC's smash hit Scandal is cooking up more than just fictional drama; she's also got a bun in her oven! Kerry Washington is reportedly preggers with her second child with her husband, Nnamdi Asomugha. The Scandal actress reportedly attended the White House Correspondents' Association dinner over the weekend with baby bump in tow, and is also expected to make an appearance on the 2016 Met Gala red carpet tonight.
Washingtoncurrently has herself a full plate starring in a hit TV show and raising her 2-year-old daughter, Isabelle, but it appears as though she isn't fazed in the least. Much like the character she plays on TV, Washington has proved time and time again that she's more than capable of doing it all and putting her family's needs first.
Washington has managed to accomplish what few in Hollywood are able to — she's kept her private life, well, private. She rarely even makes mention of her life outside of her role in Hollywood, and she often dodges any personal questions tossed her way in interviews and on red carpets.
And while we definitely respect her move to stay out of the spotlight, we're now anxiously stalking what's sure to be the most adorable baby bump ever to pop up on the small screen.
As if we didn't already have enough reasons to keep up with Washington on Scandal, now we're left in anticipation, scratching our heads and trying to figure out how Shonda Rhimes is going to weave this incredible news into the scripts of every woman's Thursday night addiction, or if the ABC show is going to try to hide Washington's growing belly the way they did the last time around.
The latter might be more likely (anyone remember how much time she spent hiding behind a lamp two years ago?), but it would be a whole lot more fun if Shondaland had a pregnancy scandal for us on Thursday nights.
While we're over here curating our own far-fetched ideas about whether it's Jake or Fitz that is the fictional father of this baby, we want to offer a big congratulations to Kerry Washington and Nnamdi Asomugha on their beautiful growing family.
