No amount of money or fame can keep Kim Kardashian West from sweating under the pressure of having two young children. The larger-than-life reality star recently let us into her world in a new blog post about her struggle as a mother.
Kardashian stated that she was “up at 4 a.m., pumping, and delirious” as she was hiding in her daughter, North’s, closet. “If she sees I snuck out of her bed, she will start to cry.” Kardashian explains, “Every waking second that I’m not with the baby, I’m with North. I actually think the hard parts aren’t with the newborn but with the toddler!”
She goes on to reveal that she never gets any sleep, and that working has been challenging while trying to care for two children and herself. “My mom would always say about kids: ‘One is like one, and two are like twenty.’ I never really understood that until now.” Kardashian wrote in her blog.
Kanye has apparently been a huge help. He takes their daughter on dates, just the two of them, so that Kim can catch a break. Kardashian’s niece, Penelope, is also helping little North West with the transition into sisterhood, giving her advice and being a great example of being a big sister herself.
“I know that we will soon get into the perfect groove and just figure it out. My mom did, my sister did and I will too.” Kardashian writes.
And what wise words Kim has gifted us with, all from within the confines of her daughter’s closet. It’s not all that often that she comes off as super relatable, but it seems as though she’s taken a turn in recent months, letting us have a peek into her life and sharing her struggles.
Confessions like hers are so important in the world of not only mothers but women in general. Though we should know better by now, many of us still fall for the fabricated lives people share on social media. We convince ourselves that these people — people like Kardashian and other celebrities — are perfect, that they’ve got it all. And sure, they do have a lot, but no one ever really has it all, as Kardashian has made evident in her blog posts, admitting even she is struggling with her role as a mother of two.
We all sometimes struggle to find our groove, both as mothers and in life. We all face inevitable roadblocks from time to time, but knowing that we’re not alone in our quandaries can aid us in recovering from setbacks. If we were to support one another more often, we might find ourselves feeling down in the dumps a lot less.
So, to Kardashian West: Thank you for sharing your story. You are certainly not alone in your struggle, and we appreciate you admitting that this motherhood gig is downright hard sometimes.
