We all want to give our kids the perfect Christmas. But how far are we willing to go — and how much are we prepared to spend — to make all their dreams come true?

One young mum made what most people would consider to be a rather extreme career choice in order to buy everything on her son’s Christmas list. Megan Clara, 20, has spent the last 12 months making porn films — earning £500 a scene — to ensure 5-year-old Ashton isn’t left disappointed.

Single mother Megan from Portsmouth, Hampshire, said, “Last Christmas I could barely scrape any money together. It was really tough and I couldn’t help but worry Ashton was going to be left out and disappointed.”

Before getting involved in the adult film business, Megan survived on £80 a week. For Christmas 2014, she spent £100 on Ashton’s presents, including an Etch A Sketch, a pirate game, a cuddly toy, a fancy dress costume, clothes and chocolate.

This year, Ashton’s pressies budget has soared to a whopping £1500, and the little boy will be waking up on Christmas morning to a bike, Toy Story action figures, Converse, Lego sets, room decorations, clothes and various other toys, chocolate and sweets.

“My son has always been high maintenance and never seemed happy with the Christmas presents I could afford,” said Megan. “He has always wanted what his friends had but I didn’t have the spare cash for expensive toys.”

She admits she experiences a negative reaction from other people due to her chosen career, but describes them as “jealous”.

“I do glamour modelling and sex films — I enjoy what I do and I’m not hurting anyone else. Some people are just jealous. I can spend my money how I like too; I don’t spend it on alcohol, drugs or smoking — why shouldn’t I spend it on Ashton and myself?”

This may not be a story many parents can relate to. Getting involved in the porn industry probably isn’t something the average person would consider as a way to cover those hefty festive expenses. But what most, if not all, parents can relate to is the ever-increasing pressure to give our children everything they want, from the priciest Lego set to the latest must-have gadget.

To me, spending £1,500 on a 5-year-old's Christmas list is more of a talking point than a woman turning to porn to earn money.
