Artsy photo shoot captures the ever-changing moods of pregnancy
If you’ve ever been pregnant, or spent time with someone who has, you’ll know that it’s not all feelings of joy. For many expectant mums mood swings are sudden and often inexplicable. Hormonal changes and bizarre food cravings can make you feel as if you’re not in control of your own mind or body.
One mum-to-be, Dublin-based art director Vaida Rasciute, used this experience as inspiration for a self-styled pregnancy photo shoot a week before she gave birth to her fourth child.
Acknowledging on the Carrot Inc Facebook page that pregnancy is both "the most beautiful time of every woman's life" and "the happiest reason ever for feeling like 'crap,'" Lithuanian-born Rasciute unveiled a series of quirky images in which she and another model pose in a bathtub with various props — from poppies to strawberries — to reflect a range of emotions and cravings women may experience during pregnancy.
Rasciute told Fit Pregnancy that while the images are meant to reflect different moods each one doesn't have a specific emotion attached to it. "We go through so many stages of moods while pregnant and I would like people to interpret it themselves," she said.
I'm sure we could all come up with our own variations on the fun pregnancy craving shots. Bath-full of pizza (with extra cheese) anyone?
