When our family got the chance to attend a special preview screening of the new Cinderella, I, of course asked my daughters if they wanted to dress up as princesses for the movie.
My 4-year-old? All about it. My 6-year-old? Not so much.
She just didn’t feel comfortable dressing up in public anymore and while I felt extraordinarily sad for her and wished she could just have some fun like I know she secretly wanted to, it never even occurred to me to be as cool as one tattooed uncle from Detroit, Michigan.
Jesse Nagy, a 25-year-old actor, was visiting his 4-year-old niece in Alabama when he decided to go watch the new Cinderella movie with his leading lady. But when Izzy suddenly got cold feet (not to be confused with glass feet) about donning her princess gear out in public for her public, Nagy went total Prince Charming on her — and dressed up in his own princess dress to support her.
“She’s like my mini-me,” he told ABC News. “I really wanted to spend time with her, so I said ‘let’s go have a princess day.” And when the little apple of his eye suggested that he could be a princess too, Nagy didn’t even hesitate. “We made the trade-off,” he explained. “I said, ‘OK, we can both be princesses,’ but she had to have the crown. I thought ‘fair enough!'”
“Sometimes you just have to be a princess. Going to see Cinderella !! Uncle of the year,” Nagy captioned his picture on Facebook.
I think we would all have to agree. And I can’t help but wonder if anyone else even watched the movie? Something tells me these two may have stolen the show.
