Vin Diesel honored his best friend and Fast and the Furious costar Paul Walker by naming his third child after him. See his daughter’s heartwarming name, and hear Diesel’s touching sentiment to Walker, who died in 2013.
The birth of Vin Diesel‘s third child has helped bring closure as he deals with the devastating death of his best friend, Paul Walker. Diesel and his girlfriend, Paloma Jiménez, welcomed their third child this month, and he told the Today Show that he named his daughter after Walker.
“I named her Pauline,” he told Natalie Morales. Diesel revealed that he felt his best friend’s presence in the delivery room when his daughter was born.
“There’s no other person that I’m thinking about as I’m cutting this umbilical cord,” he said. “I knew he was there, and I felt like, you know, a way to keep his memory a part of my memory, a part of my world.”
Walker, who has a 16-year-old daughter named Meadow, was just 40 years old when he died November 2013 in a tragic car crash. The late actor and Diesel starred in five Fast and the Furious films together. “I lost my best friend. I lost my brother,” he emotionally told reporters at the screening of Furious 7.
Diesel shared this adorable photo as he snuggles with his newborn daughter Pauline on his Facebook page, which he captioned with a sweet poem.
The actor and his girlfriend have two other children together — a 6-year-old daughter named Hania and a 4-year-old son name Vincent.
In fact, Diesel shared a sweet photo of Walker with his daughter Hania, calling him “Uncle Pablo” and revealing how he helped him become a good father.
Diesel told Morales why he decided to share the baby name news with her.
“I’m telling you this because I love you,” he said. “I know that you are a good soul, and I know that this is in good hands.”
