Carrie Underwood gives birth to a boy: See his biblical baby name
Carrie Underwood and her husband Mike Fisher welcomed a baby boy on Friday. The singer shared a first photo of her newborn and announced his sweet biblical baby name.
Carrie Underwood and her hockey player husband are first-time parents. The 31-year-old American Idol alum shared a photo of her newborn's tiny hand and announced his name on her Instagram page.
"Tiny hands and tiny feet... God has blessed us with an amazing gift!" she captioned the photo. "Isaiah Michael Fisher — born on February 27. Welcome to the world, sweet angel!"
Isaiah is a biblical baby name that means "salvation of the Lord." According to the Social Security Administration's baby name lists, the name Isaiah is a popular name here in America, as it has stayed on the top 50 for over 10 years. His middle name, Michael, is after his dad's name.
Fisher, who married Underwood in 2010, joked about baby names shortly after they made their pregnancy announcement back in September. "We haven't picked names yet but it's looking like Fly is gonna fly. #boyorgirl #flyfisher," he tweeted. Her CMA co-host, Brad Paisley, even suggested she name him Garth after Garth Brooks.
Shortly before she gave birth, Underwood told Taste of Country Nights that they had narrowed down their list of baby names. "We might wait until we meet him and then see what he looks like," she said.
"We joke a lot about funny things that go with Fisher, but there's not some family name that I have had to be like, 'No! That’s terrible!'" she told People.
It looks like the couple picked the perfect name for their son, and now the only question is, how will their dogs Penny and Ace accept little Isaiah? Underwood included the dogs in her pregnancy announcement — and even let one use her baby bump as a pillow.
