No matter how you feel about God, there's something irresistible about people who claim to see the great beyond. New mom Ruby Graupera-Cassimiro shares her amazing story after living through C-section complications where she lost her pulse for 45 minutes. In her absence, Graupera-Cassimiro believes she saw the afterlife.

Graupera-Cassimiro was close to being declared dead after delivering her baby through a C-section that resulted in complications. The new mom was without a pulse for close to an hour — her heart did not beat for 45 minutes.

Dr. Chadi Loutfi describes the severity of the situation to WPBF News, "There was no pulse, no blood pressure and the patient was not breathing on her own."

Graupera-Cassimiro's complications were caused by an amniotic fluid embolism, where her baby's amniotic fluid clogged her heart. This complication is almost always fatal. The doctors spent nearly three hours trying to save Graupera-Cassimiro, including 45 minutes where she had no pulse. The outlook was so bleak that doctors told her family to say their goodbyes.

Just seconds before doctors planned to withdraw care and prepare for death, Graupera-Cassimiro's heart mysteriously started beating again. Dr. Jordan Knurr was bold enough to call this phenomenon a miracle, saying that this kind of resuscitation never happens during such dire circumstances.

The miracle did not stop there. Graupera-Cassimiro made it through the trauma with a full recovery. The new mother did not suffer any anticipated brain damage or heart problems. After almost three hours of physical CPR, she did not have any bruises.

What happened to Graupera-Cassimiro during the time she was down on the table? This is the question on everyone's minds when someone cheats death in a near-miraculous way. The new mom describes her time without a pulse as "unbelievable."

Graupera-Cassimiro says, "I remember seeing a spiritual being, who I believe was my dad. I remember the light behind him and many other spiritual beings. I wasn't walking, I was kind of flowing. It's peaceful. There's nothing to be afraid of."

I can't tell you how much I love this story. It's part of my job to write about horrific parenting stories in the news, and now we have this. One new mom is still alive to care for her young daughter. She survived the experience without a scratch.

Graupera-Cassimiro believes that she came back and regained her pulse when a spiritual being told her that it wasn't her time yet. This mom has a message for everyone after experiencing the afterlife firsthand: We don't have to be afraid of death.

It's easy for stories like this to make you skeptical, but we should really listen. Death is scary. The unknown is scary. This woman's beautiful story is the kind of story that everyone needs to hear.
