Mom caught breaking into cars claims she was hunting for terrorists
Authorities say Mississippi woman Lisa Carol Roche broke into cars at her kids' high school. She's been charged with commercial burglary of an automobile. Here's where things get weird. The 41-year-old mom says she was just hunting down terrorists.
This will go down in history as the worst way to embarrass your high school kids ever. It's bad enough that authorities say Roche has already been arrested for careless driving, felony embezzlement and felony burglary. Committing a crime in the actual parking lot of your kids' school? That takes horrible parenting choices to a new low.
Bringing ISIS into the picture is where this alleged crime hits rock bottom. The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria is at the center of a worldwide terrorist crisis. Invoking this radical group while reportedly busting into cars to lift other parents' sunglasses and other personal items is a huge insult to the men and women who have lost their lives at the hands of terrorists.
It's unlikely that East Central High School in Hurley, Mississippi, is a hotbed of terrorist activity. And even if it is, Roche should leave the covert operations to the professionals. If she's convicted, Roche faces up to five years in prison.
Meanwhile, always keep your valuables with you. A purse on the passenger seat or a pair of sunglasses on the dashboard makes your vehicle a target. Whether you're dropping your kids off at school or heading to yoga, keep in mind your car isn't a secure place to stash your stuff.
