This Halloween, let your kids decorate their pumpkins with a little less mess. With just a few ingredients you can whip up your own chalkboard pumpkins in any color. Your kids will have lots of fun drawing and erasing their own jack-o’-lanterns and Halloween messages.
- Artificial pumpkins
- White non-sanded grout
- Acrylic craft paint
- Disposable cups
- Measuring cups and spoons
1. Mix up the chalkboard paint
To make the chalkboard paint, mix together 1/4 cup of acrylic paint with 1 tablespoon of white non-sanded grout in a disposable cup.
2. Paint with the chalkboard paint
Paint a coat of the chalkboard paint on all sides of the artificial pumpkin, then set it aside to dry.
3. Add additional coats of paint
Add 1 or 2 additional coats of chalkboard paint until the pumpkin is well covered.
4. Decorate with chalk
Use chalk to decorate the pumpkins by adding jack-o’-lantern faces or Halloween messages.
