Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes welcome a baby girl

In 2011, Ryan Gosling said, "I'll make movies until I make babies. I have no idea when the handover will happen." Welp. The time has come. Sorry, ladies.

Gosling and girlfriend Eva Mendes reportedly welcomed a bouncing baby career-killer on Sept. 12. So far they've kept their daughter's name a secret. It goes without saying that she's probably incredibly adorable, but don't expect pictures right away. Gosling and Mendes waited seven months to announce their pregnancy, so it could be years before we see baby photos of the Goslingling.

What's next for Gosling now that he'll have to balance a committed relationship and being a dad? Apparently not work, which means for an undetermined amount of time, we're going to have to do without his soulful, puppy-dog gaze and utterly unfair torso. But it's understandable. It's universally accepted that going back to work after childbirth is an enormous emotional and physical strain on a new parent.

Now the pressure is on. Gosling will be inundated with questions about his post-baby diet and fitness routine, how all that baby weight affects his self-image, whether or not the baby-Gosling will be breastfed and if he plans on vaccinating her on schedule.

In all sincerity, we wish the couple the very best. They've managed to stay largely out of the spotlight with this pregnancy, which is something every expectant couple deserves if that's what they want. Hopefully their first days at home with their little one have gone smoothly. And if we're daydreaming about Gosling cradling a wee swaddled baby to his (perfect) chest, well, who can blame us?
