Don't let cold days get you and your kids down! Just because you're trapped inside doesn't mean you can't have fun. Here are three great indoor activities for a chilly day.

Mother and daughter baking

Chilly days can be draining when you're stuck indoors with your kids. After a few hours they can go a little stir-crazy after exhausting their current toys and attention spans. For days like those, it's good to have an arsenal of "go-to" indoor activities! Doing new things indoors can help make those days less dreary and help the time to pass all the faster. Here are three indoor activities for you and your kids to do on the next chilly day.

Bake some cookies

Baking cookies provides an excellent learning opportunity for your children, as well as a fun way to pass the time. They can work on their measuring and pouring, as well as following instructions. Not to mention the fact that cooking is an important life skill for them to have. The best part is getting to enjoy a sweet treat together when the job is complete.

Build a fort in the living room

Grab some blankets, chairs and pillows and get to work building an awesome fort. The kids can let their creative juices flow as they design the castle of their dreams. When the fort is ready, lay down a blanket and break out the paper plates for a picnic lunch. The kids will get a kick out of getting to eat in the fort, and you won't have dishes to clean. You can also snuggle in and watch a movie or a TV show like the new Julius Jr. show on Nick Jr.

Break out the masking tape

There is so much fun to be had with just some masking tape! You can build a highway through your living room for your little one's cars to travel. Or you can bring hopscotch inside by taping out the squares. Have some empty water bottles? Make a bowling lane and go bowling. The only limit is your own creativity.

While many parents dread days stuck indoors, with a little planning and ingenuity you can look forward to the chilly days! Your kids will learn to enjoy them as well once they see all the fun they can have indoors.
