Don't let your relationship overtake your personality
Being one half of a great couple is, well, great. But it can be easy to get so lost in new love that you lose sight of the fact you’re an individual. Liking what he likes, going where he wants to go and sharing his opinions are all fine, but here’s how to ensure your love life doesn’t take over your personality.
Spend time alone
We know it's hard. You love him and want to spend every waking second with him, but some alone time is important to maintain your individuality amidst being part of a loved-up twosome. Schedule time to do things you like to do – hit up an art opening, grab a latte at your favorite coffee shop or browse that new vintage store you've been curious about. The point is to do what you want, without worrying about him all the time.
Once you're in a new relationship with a guy you really like, it can be easy to acquiesce to everything he says, even if you don't quite feel the same way. Being in love doesn't mean not having an opinion. If you disagree with something he says, tell him. You don't have to make a big deal about every little thing, but it is important to stand by your beliefs, morals and opinions even if they don't all match his.
Don't ditch your friends
Being in a relationship shouldn't mean trading your gal pals for your new guy. Maintaining a balance between your boyfriend and your BFFs will help you preserve your personality and remind you that you're not defined by who you're dating. Love is great, but your life shouldn't always revolve around a guy.
