Man plans the perfect proposal for his Friends-obsessed girlfriend
London-based Anisha Patel is obsessed with Friends. Who isn't, right? But, the 23-year-old is such a fan that she can quote whole episodes verbatim.
That talent — among her many other awesome attributes — is why her boyfriend, 25-year-old Mitesh Jadva, decided to propose.
And of course Friends was involved.
After a dinner at the famed London restaurant, The Shard, Jadva led his girlfriend to the Red Cross Gardens at sunset where he had a scene set up to look like the backdrop of the show's famed opening credits. A group of singers serenaded them with the show's theme song — "I'll Be There For You" by The Rembrandts — as they made their way to a couch.
It all looked picture-perfect, but not all went as planned.
"The journey to the park in the cab was when the nerves really started to kick in," Jadva told the Daily Mail. "We knew the timing for sunsets that week and had planned the proposal for a time which would give us good lighting for the video, but also would be dark enough for the candles and fairy lights to shine. Luckily I was able to stall the cab for 10 minutes, and I even got us dropped five minutes' walk away from the park."
All the stress was worth it.
"When we took a seat and the singers came out Anisha shed a few happy tears, and that's when I knew I'd done my job right," he said. "The entire night Anisha kept telling me how overwhelming it was and how she was so happy she felt like it wasn't actually happening."
'I'm just happy she liked it and now has a memory for life."
Take notes, boys.
