Actress Shenae Grimes meant it when she said she prefers dark, edgy clothes over traditional looks: She just married Josh Beech in a black Vera Wang wedding dress!
“I now pronounce us Mr. and Mrs. Beech! Ahhh! Xx,” the actress tweeted right after her nuptials.
We’re totally thrilled for the couple, but we can’t stop staring at her black wedding dress. Grimes opted to go the nontraditional route to say her vows, opting for an all-black Vera Wang creation.
And we’re definitely jealous: The V-neck halter ball gown features silk georgette and silk faille with hand-pieced Chantilly lace appliqué on multilayered crushed and honeycomb tulle.
Grimes accessorized her gorgeous gown with a bouquet of dark red roses and a romantic updo.
The look is a bit different from what we’re used to seeing on a celebrity bride, but Grimes isn’t the first star to stay away from white on her wedding day: Reese Witherspoon and Jessica Biel both wore pink, while Sarah Jessica Parker also opted for black.
Parker regrets the decision, though. She told NBC’s Today that she’d “white it up” if she ever renewed her vows with husband Matthew Broderick.
“I’d wear a beautiful, proper wedding dress, like I should have worn that day,” she said.
It doesn’t seem like Grimes will have the same regrets, though. The actress recently told Teen Vogue that she prefers darker, edgier gear over frilly fashion.
“Since I have that edgy, rocker-tomboy kind of vibe, it can be very difficult to translate my style for the red carpet,” she said.
“I think leather pants are so much cooler than a girly, ‘frou-frou’ dress, and it’s hard to look great when you’re not comfortable. I almost always end up wearing black pants and a blazer.”
Or a black wedding dress!
