Soul Purpose: Helping women find their purpose

Being big fans of beauty, skin and body-care products, we’re always looking for ways to indulge our addiction to pampering products in a way that’s good for both our bodies and the environment. We recently discovered a means of doing just that, but in a way that also helps empower women and incite positive change in communities across the nation.

What is it?

Soul Purpose Lifestyle Company was founded in 2007 by Nadine A. Thompson as a socially responsible and sustainable direct-selling company with a mission of creating empowering business opportunities, primarily for women of color. Their vision is to support women in finding their purpose and building success through the marketing of a wide variety of all natural lifestlye products, from body butters and shower gels to salt scrubs, soy candles and hair-care products.

Who does it help?

This multifaceted company works to foster an environment that provides people of all racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds, especially African American, Hispanic, Asian and Native American women, an entrepreneurial opportunity that allows them to take control over their future, and feel empowered to get ahead while also having the means to make a difference in their communities.

In a nutshell, the company helps enable women of color launch and sustain viable, socially responsible businesses that help them create wealth, stimulate economic growth and revitalize minority communities.

An even greater reach

Soul Purpose doesn’t just empower the women they work with directly. They also collaborate with like-minded organizations. For instance, their wild-crafted Shea butter and honey are sourced from a women’s cooperative in Northern Ghana — a unique partnership that enables the women of the area to support educational and medical needs within their communities. Soul Purpose also partners with a women’s cooperative in India that provides the company with beautiful silk journals. This collaboration enables the cooperative to provide employment for women who may not otherwise have jobs.

Not to mention, over 70 percent of their products are manufactured by RainShadow Labs based in St. Helens, Oregon, a women-owned and -operated company powered with 100 percent renewable wind energy.

Get involved

There are several ways to get involved with Soul Purpose to help make a difference, the simplest being to buy the wide array of lifestyle products, which are non-synthetic, sulfate- and paraben-free, vegan and never tested on animals.

You can also sign up to host a lifestyle party as a way to earn free products and get the word out to your community about Soul Purpose and the line of items they sell, or you can enroll to become an entrepreneur and start your business selling Soul Purpose products.
