Race for the arts

What it is

Race for the Arts is a nonprofit organization that holds annual 5K run/walks to raise funds and increase audiences for California’s nonprofit performing, cultural and visual arts programs.

Why it was founded

Founded in 1999, Race for the Arts is an opportunity for community members to make a difference for their favorite art organizations and school programs. Their goal is to promote awareness for school music, drama and art programs.

How its making a difference

Race for the Arts raises money for a number of school programs that promote art education. They have a long list of beneficiaries that receive 100 percent of the pledges designated to them.

The annual 5K race is an experience that comes along with plenty of entertainment — the Arts Festival. There are interactive booths, costumed characters and a post-run party that family and friends of all ages can enjoy.
