Of course we tuned in for the fun fashion shows on NBC’s Fashion Star and looked forward to shopping the looks at H&M. But it’s impossible to overlook the fact that the show features three beautiful ladies, and we had to know how to get their looks, too.
Julianne is thrilled that women are departing from the super smoky eye. “I think we’ve been doing that enough,” she said. When we sat down in her chair, she showed us how to achieve a soft, smoky eye. “It’s really great if you don’t have a lot of time,” claims Julianne.
Add a smoky liner
“All you need is a creamy, blendable black pencil,” said Julianne. Seems simple enough to us! She chose MAC’s Black Russian which she loves for the sparkles that are infused. “It helps add a little radiance to the eye.”
Blend the eyeliner
Next Julianne shows us how to enhance the line along the perimeter to the lids; you’ll need a small brush with a fine pointed end. Work it into the black pencil, actually rubbing the brush onto the tip of the pencil. “Go back and forth over the line [you] just created. Slightly go above it to fuse the color.”
Top it off with mascara
Finish the look with mascara. “Another great trick of mine is to take a tissue underneath your lash base and just swipe away.” Voila! “That’s how you get Elle Macpherson’s really quick, easy smudgy eye.”
Pair your soft, smoky eye with a pink lip
When you have achieved your soft, smoky eye makeup, complete the look with a petal pink lip. You can leave just the lipstick, but Elle likes to do a lot of shimmer.
