No fluff here! The fall 2012 Badgley Mischka collection was filled with stand-alone gowns that commanded attention on their own — minus all the extra accessories.
What we saw
We spotted RHNY’s Kelly Bensimon among fashion fans, along with septuagenarian Joan Rivers, who came right out onto the runway pre-show for a friendly wave to the crowd.
SheKnows was front and center to watch models stream down the Badgley Mischka runway in sheer gowns with geometric shapes, intriguing necklines and metallic accents, all reminiscent of Old Hollywood. Furs and shimmer added an extra dose of glamour that endured throughout Mark Badgley and James Mischka’s collection.
What about the colors? Well, let’s just say we quickly fell for the Victorian, regal looks and the earthy color palette that boasted an array of blacks, deep eggplant, golds and forest greens.
Our favorite piece
The stand-out piece for us was an undeniably romantic lacey gown and jacket ensemble complete with luscious fur-lined three-quarter length sleeves. The attention to detail from the neckline down to the floor commanded the attention upon the model’s first step out onto runway. What can we learn from this look? Lace is in — wear it and pair it. Layer with textured fabrics, and don’t be afraid to experiment!

What you’ll see in street style
Sure, you can’t exactly wear a full-on gown on the street, but you can take a lesson from the fall 2012 Badgley Mischka fashion collection: less is more. This fall, let your statement piece — whether it’s a dress or a bold pair of pants — speak for itself and accessorize wisely. The regal look is in, so feel free to wear those “look at me” pieces that command everyone’s attention.
