4 Runway-inspired prints for winter

The chill of winter is right around the corner! Don’t let your fashion sense freeze over with the change of the season. These four winter clothing prints are straight off the runway and are guaranteed to make you look hot, even if the weather is cold.

Quiltwork skirt

Geometric quiltwork

This homemade look was hot on the Hermes runway. Burnt oranges, taupes and mustard yellows mix your grandmother’s geometric quilt patterns with a tribal feel, making it fresh. Try this tweed skirt ($268) from Anthropologie. Its hand-stitched looking patches and embroidery are spot-on with this trend.

Red leopard print

Red leopard

Betsey Johnson’s Fall/Winter 2011/2012 line was full of colorful leopard prints including deep red leopard tights paired with red booties and a bright yellow plaid skirt. Keep the trend toned-down with this leopard button-up top from The peek-a-boo shoulder and sheer fabric keep this shirt just as fun as Betsey’s collection.

Paisley kaftan

Fashion designer Anna Sui debuted a Fall 2011 collection packed full of dozens upon dozens of retro prints. From all-over funky florals to psychedelic checkers, this winter is the season to make a big statement. We like this Free People paisley kaftan ($168). It’s sure to keep you warm while you sport the trend.

Fair Isle cardigan

Fair Isle

You may have never known the name, but when you see this print, you’re instantly transported into a cozy living room with a crackling fireplace and a cup of cocoa. Nothing says winter comfort more than Fair Isle. Take a cue from Tory Burch’s fall collection by pairing a neutral cardigan (gray, white and black work best) with a gray or black lace skirt and some faux fur accessories. We like this Abercrombie & Fitch cardigan ($120).
