Our best fall beauty tips

Another summer has come to an end. It was fun while it lasted, but now it’s time to set our sights on a whole new season. Since we know you want to head into fall looking fabulous (who doesn’t?), we’ve put together some of our best tips for getting gorgeous as we say goodbye to summer. From makeup musts to skin saving tips, read on to find out how to put your best face forward this fall.

Woman getting Fall facial

1Switch to creamy cleanser

As the temperatures inevitably start to dip (and eventually nosedive), the air will start to dry out and harsh wind can wreak havoc on skin. A gel cleanser is great in the summer for washing away sweat and busting up excess oil, but once cold weather hits, it’s a good idea to switch to a creamier formula. Check out some of our picks.

2Wake up your shower

Whether you’re going back to school or work or simply can’t bear the thought of bidding adieu to the lazy days of summer, a good wake-up call might be in order. We’re in love with Wash With Joe ($24), an invigorating body wash made with real coffee and triple distilled peppermint essential oil. You’ll feel refreshed, clean and ready to start the day. Showering never felt so good.

3Get a post-summer facial

Chlorine water, salt water, sand, sweat, long nights spent drinking fruity cocktails – they all take their toll on your complexion no matter how diligent you were with cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing. To get your face in top form for fall, we suggest getting a facial to transition your skin into a new season.

Why it’s important: A skin care professional can look closely at what’s going on with your complexion and devise a plan to combat any concerns standing in the way of a flawless face. You can take what you learn and put it into practice, not to mention get product recommendations best suited to your skin type.

4Overhaul your makeup bag

Makeup bag

It’s time to turn your makeup bag upside down and take stock of what you want to keep – and what should be tossed. The start of a new season is a great time to overhaul your cosmetics bag and make sure anything expired or that you no longer use is replaced. While you’re at it, do a thorough cleaning of all your makeup brushes with a mild, unscented soap and warm water or brush cleaner. If it’s been a while since you’ve given them a wash, now is a good time to make sure they’re free of oil, debris and other icky things you definitely don’t want on your skin.

5Perk up your palette

Say sayonara to summer in style with a few new makeup shades to perk up your palette for fall. We’re loving the icy blues, golden shimmer and wine-stained lips taking autumn by storm and we suggest you give some of these trends a try. Think about some fun and flattering shades you can add to your repertoire and rock some new looks in honor of a new season.

6Hydrate inside and out

It’s so much easier to stay hydrated in the summer – you’re hot so you feel thirsty faster, not to mention feeling the need to cool off with an icy drink. But sipping regularly through the fall is important for good health and energy – and for smooth, supple skin. Trade coffee and cocktails (at least some of them) for herbal tea and water with a twist of citrus. Now is also a good time to look into a heavier moisturizer if your skin tends to be dry. Look for something that soaks in but provides skin with a layer of nourishing moisture when the colder temperatures arrive.

Great for all skin types, we’ve fallen in love with Red Flower Arctic Berry Cloud Milk Cream ($52), a luxurious skin saver that feels ultra-light when applied but leaves skin feeling soft, nourished and revitalized.
