1Self-tanner streaks

Self-tanners can be tricky to apply, and most women who have tried them have experienced the occasional mishap. Next time you apply your self-tanner unevenly, follow these steps to even out your skin tone:

  1. Dip a cotton ball in lemon juice or witch hazel and rub the cotton ball on the area in question.
  2. Wait 30 to 60 seconds to see if the area has faded sufficiently.
  3. If not, use a wash cloth to exfoliate the skin and attempt to rub away any dead skin cells on the skin’s surface that have absorbed the additional color.
  4. Allow area to dry and repeat the steps as necessary.

2Greasy hair


When you don’t have time to wash your hair but there’s no way you can go out in public with it looking so greasy, all you need is a little bit of baby powder or dry shampoo. Simply sprinkle the powder on your brush and quickly comb it through your hair. The powder will absorb the extra oil and will actually add texture that will help your hairstyle hold.

3Over-plucked brows

If you grabbed a few hairs too many while plucking your brows, you probably would like to hide the unnatural effect until the hairs grow back in. Choose an eyeliner or brow pencil a shade lighter than your eyebrows, then brush the eyebrow in the opposite direction of the hair growth with a toothbrush. Color in the gap with the pencil, then dab a same-shade brow powder on top to soften up the look. Brush your eyebrow back in place, and voila, instant fix!

4Puffy, sleepy eyes

Whether you just pulled an all-nighter or you’re suffering from seasonal allergies, puffy, tired-looking eyes can affect the way you feel when interacting with others. Prepare for this beauty emergency by always keeping a box of green tea bags in the house. Simply wet two of the tea bags down and place them in the freezer for a few minutes. When they’re nice and cold, put them on your closed eyes for 10 minutes to help drain the extra fluid. After you’re done, make sure you dab a pale, shimmery eye shadow to the inside corners of your eyes. This will help reflect light and brighten up your overall appearance.

5Big time breakouts

If you wake up in the morning to a big, red zit, it’s important to do what you can to minimize its appearance without succumbing to the temptation to pop it. Reduce the swelling and redness by placing an ice pack on it for roughly 10 minutes, then apply a cream or gel that contains benzoyl peroxide to help treat the affected area. If you’re faced with a single pimple, cover it up using a stick concealer that will target the zit in question. When applying the concealer, use a brush to dot it onto the center of the zit, then dab it lightly with a clean finger until it disappears into the skin. Repeat the step to help build layers and prevent the redness from showing through. Set the concealer in place with translucent powder.

6Torn nail

Torn nails may seem unfixable, but rather than ripping them off and leaving them jagged and unattractive, simply use a dab of crazy glue to hold the nail in place. After the glue dries, place a dot of nail polish over the tear and allow it to dry. Dab nail polish remover on top, rubbing in a light circle over the dot of nail polish to smooth out the edges. Cover the whole thing with a coat of clear polish and you’ll be almost as good as new.
