When the weather cools down, it’s time to pull your sweaters and boots out from the back of your closet and step into fall fashion. Boots come in all shapes, styles and heights. Let’s take a look at the hottest fall boot and shoe trends for 2011.
Knee-high boots are a classic choice for fall. If you are going to wear these boots often, invest in a leather or suede pair with a low or flat heel for versatility. Like wedge sandals of summer, wedge-heeled boots will be very popular for fall. Knee-high boots can be worn with everything from skinny jeans and a slouchy cardigan to neon leggings and a mini-dress.
Booties (or ankle boots) featuring cut-out details such as open toes and sides are on trend this fall. They are great for transitioning from the warm summer weather to the cool days of autumn. Look for cut-out booties with 2 1/2- to 3-inch heels for a fantastic combination of comfort and style.
Add some drama to your look with over-the-knee (OTK) boots this season. Like last year, boots that come up a few inches above the knee are being offered by a variety of different designers for fall. Before splurging on a pair of expensive OTK boots, be sure you are actually going to wear them.
Suede pumps, suede sandals, suede boots — anything and everything suede is trendy for fall. Instead of traditional black pumps for the office, look for suede pumps in shades of grey, purple or wine.
Other fall shoes
Boots aren’t the only footwear in style for fall. We also love ladylike pumps this season. Patent Mary Janes with delicate straps, as well as pumps embellished with feminine details such as bows, pleats, ribbons and lace, are perfect partners for fall dresses, jeans and trousers. Cap-toe pumps will also be hot for fall. From square-toed shoes to super pointy styles, look for suede or leather pumps with glossy patent cap-toes in a contrasting color.
