If you’re planning a camping trip with your family this summer, consider heading to the Pacific Northwest. You’ll find beautiful mountains and beaches with plenty of opportunities for camping, hiking, swimming and other outdoor family fun.

Located in Oregon’s Cascade Mountains, you’ll find Trail of Ten Falls/Canyon Trail in Silver Falls State Park. This is an amazing location for hiking. The misty trail through the temperate rainforest features waterfalls, wildflowers, ferns, mosses and more. There are a variety of camping opportunities in Silver Falls State Park, including RV areas, cabins, tent camping and Silver Creek Youth Camp. Silver Creek is a nice swimming area that your whole family will enjoy.

2Cape DissapointmentCape Disappointment State Park

Despite the name, you won’t be disappointed by this 1,882-acre camping park on the Long Beach Peninsula in Washington state. Fronted by the Pacific Ocean, the park boasts several miles of beach where you can go clamming, fishing or beachcombing. Don’t miss the lighthouses and family-friendly hiking trails throughout Cape Disappointment State Park. Many festivals that your family will enjoy are held in the nearby coastal towns of Long Beach and Ilwaco.

3Salt Creek Recreation Area

Your family will love the colorful tide pools at Salt Creek. During low tide, you can see starfish, sea urchins, crabs, sea anemones and much more. The Salt Creek Recreational Area in Port Angeles, Washington, has gorgeous views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Victoria, British Columbia. The area offers camping, hiking, beachcombing, diving, birdwatching and other fun outdoor activities. With more than 90 campsites to choose from and numerous recreational facilities, Salt Creek is a favorite destination for families from all over the country.

4Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park

The second largest overnight camp in the state of Oregon, Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park is located three miles south of Florence on scenic Highway 101. You’ll enjoy exploring the two miles of sand dunes stretching between your campsite in the park and the Pacific Ocean. Honeyman park also offers two freshwater lakes to cool off with a dip.

5Seaside Preserve

Seaside Preserve in Seaside, Oregon, is a private campground with over 250 full RV hookups, as well as a tent site. Your kids will love all the amenities this campground has to offer including playgrounds, swimming pools, sauna and spa, tennis courts, volleyball courts, horseshoes and more. You can hike in the rainforest or on the beach, enjoy whale and bird watching, or take advantage of the attractions in Seaside. Known for its aquarium, Seaside also features bumper cars, a carousel and other activities kids will love.
