Fade dark spots and wrinkles

If you have spent too much time in the sun this summer, you may have noticed some brown spots and freckles on your face. They’re a result of excess melanin, which is naturally produced by our skin to protect us from ultraviolet rays. While frequent exfoliation and protection with sunscreen are imperative to fading and preventing the dark spots, here are a few other ways to fade these freckles and dark spots and get your radiant skin back.

1natural remedy

Combine equal amounts of apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and horseradish root in a small bowl and mix. Apply the mixture to the spots with a cotton swab. The formula will fade the dark spots and boost your skin cells’ natural turnover process.


Turmeric, a spice used in Indian cooking, is reputed to reduce the appearance of hyper pigmentation. Look for a cream that contains the spice and use twice a day to see the full effects.

3Vitamin B3

Vitamin B3 has been shown to increase skin cell turnover and inhibit the pigmentation process. Look for creams and serums with this supervitamin.

4Renova and Tri-Luma

Ask your doctor about Renova and Tri-Luma, two prescription lightening creams. Renova (tretinoin emollient cream 0.05 percent) contains the same active ingredient as Retin A. While Retin A is formulated for acne-prone skin, Renova is a rich emollient cream developed specifically for treating wrinkles and fine lines, surface roughness, brown spots and stretch marks. Tri-Luma is a combination of Retin-A, hydroquinone (a lightening agent) and a low-potency anti-inflammatory cream.

Lasers are an excellent, yet more expensive method to remove brown spots. Two lasers that have shown good results in treating brown spots are Fraxel (about $1,000 per session; three to six are needed) and Medlite C6 (about $400 per treatment).
