In this economy, no one can afford to drop thousands on a fresh wardrobe — and why should you? We spoke with Ken Downing, the fashion director for Neiman Marcus, to narrow down spring 2010’s 7 must-have trends.
The “safari” look often comes up in resort collections, and this spring, it’s a big trend, too. “Fashion loves to sojourn, but this season they really landed on the Ivory Coast,” Downing says. “So we’re seeing a lot of really gorgeous saturated prints and patterns, a lot of geometrics that take on a lot of African spirit, not only just in ready to wear, but also in shoes and handbags and the way that so many things were accessorized on the runway.”
So how can you wear it? If you aren’t a fan of animal or geometric prints, you can play with African-inspired accessories or a khaki safari jacket, instead.
